General Questions
How can I be sure of the quality of the ingredients in the YY wellness teas and the YY Herbal Warmer?
When we first started the idea of YY Wellness, we were sure of one thing - we wanted every single ingredient that went into the teas and the YY Herbal Warmer to be of high quality, without any artificial components, and we wanted you to be assured of it. All our products are manufactured by the Herbal Nutrient Factory, which is a traditional Chinese medicine factory in Taiwan. The Herbal Nutrient Factory is HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) approved, which assures systems and quality control in every step of the manufacturing, storage and distribution process. The Herbal Nutrient Factory is also ISO22000 certified, which guarantees food safety standards. All our products are manufactured in Taiwan and have quality assurance because of the tight regulations imposed on the manufacture of TCM products by the Taiwanese government. We chose to work with a Taiwanese manufacturer because countries like Taiwan, Japan and South Korea have a long history of using TCM, hence the manufacturing processes adopted there are more advanced and tightly regulated.
Is your product vegan?
Yes, all our products are made from 100% natural herbs and are 100% vegan. We don’t use any animal products or insects.
Are YY Wellness products HSA-approved?

Questions About YY Period Care Routine
What is the suitable age-range for consumption of the YY Wellness teas?
Our teas are designed for women between the ages of 16-45, from the early years of menstruation right until the cusp of menopause. At the age of 16, the period cycle is considered more mature and this is usually the time where premenstrual syndrome symptoms start to show. Between 40 to 45, the body starts to prepare for menopause. Our teas are specially calibrated to support the woman’s reproductive functions and balance the hormones during these years. Should you fall outside this age range, we recommend taking our YY Wellness teas in consultation with your trusted physician to be sure your body’s needs are being adequately met.
When will I start feeling a difference?
Each body is different and will likely respond differently to the teas. Based on our experience, however, most people should start feeling different within 1-2 consumption cycles. Again, as each body is different, how you feel different will also likely differ. Some may experience increased energy levels, less lethargy and fatigue during menstruation, others might experience improved PMS symptoms, or less intense cramping in the abdomen and lower back, less bloating, and still others may experience more regulated emotions, less headaches, more controlled acne, or a more regulated cycle length. As you can see, it really depends on you and your body! If you do notice any significant improvements or changes in how you feel after consuming your YY Wellness teas, tell us about it! Drop us a note at hello@yingyiwellness.com
Why do I feel like I have increased menstrual flow after taking the Pink Pack?
Increased menstrual flow and some clotting is normal and to be expected in the first 1-2 consumption cycles of the Pink Pack. The ingredients in the Pink Pack are designed to promote blood circulation and remove stagnant blood. The diuretic effect from the Poria herb in the Pink Pack can also result in more trips to the ladies’ room, but that just means you’re flushing out those toxins more effectively!
If I have irregular cycles, can the YY Wellness teas help to regulate my cycle?
If you have highly irregular cycles (for e.g., you only menstruate once every 2-3 months or you have 2 cycles of menstruation within the same month), we would advise against consuming YY Wellness teas in place of actual consultation and/or treatment from a certified physician, which should take priority if you experience highly irregular periods. Kindly note that YY Wellness teas are not medicinal in nature and cannot be a substitute for prescribed medicine. If you would nevertheless like to try our YY Wellness teas for general health, information on when you should be taking each type of tea can be found here. Please feel free to reach out to us at help@yingyiwellness.com if you have any questions on our product.
Why are there some brown dots on the teabags?
Don’t worry, it’s not mould and it doesn’t mean your tea has gone ‘bad’. Given that our herbs are 100% natural and fresh, some excretions from the herbs during the manufacturing and packing process is to be expected. Rest assured, this does not affect the quality of your teas one bit. If anything, it is evidence of the natural ingredients used!
Will the tea affect my birth control?
Birth control pills typically have two functions - (a) to prevent conception and (b) to regulate periods and to some extent, relieve PMS symptoms. YY Wellness teas are designed to perform the latter function, i.e., to regulate your period and relieve PMS symptoms. To this extent, it may be used in conjunction with birth control pills as the intended effect of both is the same. YY Wellness teas are also unlikely to ‘override’ the contraceptive effect of birth control so you can consume both together with no worries. Out of the abundance of caution, we would nevertheless advise an hour’s gap between consuming your birth control pills and your YY Wellness teas.
My husband/boyfriend/partner is always taking an accidental swig of my drinks. Are YY Wellness teas safe for male consumption?
Absolutely. Don’t worry, your significant male other is not going to grow breasts from drinking YY Wellness teas. Our teas are, after all, a herbal wellness tea at its essence.
What if I consume the tea without knowing I’m pregnant? Will this affect my pregnancy somehow?
All the ingredients in our wellness teas are food-grade ingredients and are not medicinal doses. Being caffeine-free and non-GMO, you can be assured that there will be no adverse impact on the foetus from consuming YY Wellness teas. Once you have confirmed your pregnancy however, we would recommend putting a pause on the teas considering the body is more sensitive during pregnancy and that each body may react differently.
I’m not bleeding and my period isn’t due in another 1-2 weeks, can I start on YY Wellness teas now? Which pack should I start with?
We have customised our YY Wellness teas to track 3 stages in the typical menstrual cycle:
a. First 5 days of your period: The Pink Pack tracks the first 5 days of your cycle, starting from the first day of bleeding. The 5-day period is merely an indicator of the average period length. If your cycle is longer, simply stop at day 5 and rest until your period is over. If your cycle is shorter, stop consuming the Pink Pack once your bleeding stops and simply switch out to the White Pack!
b. When the bleeding stops: Once your bleeding clears, you can start with the White Pack for the next 4 days of your cycle.
c. The date of ovulation (in principle, one week after your period ends): The White Pack is meant to track the period between the start of ovulation and the start of your next cycle. As a general rule, you may commence consuming the Yellow Pack one week from the end of your last period, for the next 12 days.
Don’t stress if you end up drinking the ‘wrong’ tea on any given day. A 2-3 day difference won’t hurt. All our ingredients are 100% authentic and natural and would never harm your body. For maximum effectiveness however, we do recommend pairing your teas with the 3 stages of your cycle as suggested.
I have no more periods. Can I still drink YY Period Care Routine teas?
Our holistic formulas are designed to boost overall women’s health. The teas are good nourishment for women already in the menopausal stage as they help with nourishing the blood, replenishing the Yin and regulating the Qi.
Can YY Period Care Routine teas help with the transition to menopause?
Regular consumption of YY Period Care Routine teas can alleviate typical menopausal effects of emotional instability, poor sleep, heart palpitations, sweats, and water retention, helping the body transit more comfortably to menopause.
From the TCM point of view, menopause causes certain imbalances, showing up as symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats, palpitations, insomnia, back pain, dizziness and tinnitus, dry skin and mucous membranes, fatigue and oedema, and even psychological problems like depression, irritability and/or anxiety. Prepping your body for the transition can be helpful.
Nevertheless, if you experience severe symptoms, we recommend consulting with a medical professional for diagnosis and treatment. Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you have a history of physical or mental illness, or dietary restrictions, consult your healthcare professional before consuming.
Questions About Individual Packs
Why 7 teabags in our new Individual Packs?
In TCM, treatment for female conditions is supposedly based on the incremental stages of 7 years each in a woman’s life span, i.e. 14 years old, 21 years, 28 years old and so on.
The number 7 also appears in Western medical research, where the average menstrual cycle is 28 days, made up of four 7-day cycles, establishing the four phases: period, post-period, ovulation, and post ovulation. When these 7-day cycles are used as a basis to adjust different tea formulae to match the qi and blood status at different stages of the menstrual cycle, the effect on the body is more significant.
Who is the Pink Pack for?
If you often keep late nights, eat irregular meals, and tend towards spicy/fried foods, the Pink Pack is for you. It is also suitable for women who are preparing their bodies for pregnancy.
You may tend to feel full and uncomfortable after a meal, with many belches. The stools are often soft and loose, and the effect is more pronounced when drinking ice-cold drinks. Sleep is often poor and energy is low in the day. Perhaps your eyes are often tired with shoulders and neck tending to feel stiff and painful. You may also find yourself prone to irritability, mood swings and depression. The Pink Pack especially helps if your periods are accompanied by more pronounced symptoms such as swelling and pain in the lower abdomen, diarrhoea, low menstrual flow and blood clots.
The best time for drinking The Pink Pack
3 days before menstruation ~ 4 days during menstruation.
To note
Persons whose bodies are prone to heatiness are often characterised by a dry or bitter taste in the mouth, oily skin or acne, constipation, and yellow vaginal discharge. For persons fitting this profile, the period of consumption of the tea can be reduced to 2 days before and 1 day during menstruation.
Who is the White Pack for?
The White Pack is an energy booster, suitable if you are prone to tiredness and lethargy, especially post-period. It is also effective for those who are approaching menopause. In TCM, these symptoms are often seen as Qi deficiency. After menstruation women may experience Yin deficiency, which shows up as dry mouth, hot flushes or sleep problems.
If you find yourself feeling tired even though you did not exert yourself, avoid caffeinated drinks and drink the White Pack instead for that much needed pick-me-up.
The best time for drinking The White Pack
Any time you wish but it is recommended to be drunk after menstruation to restore vitality.
To note
People with sleep issues should avoid drinking it at least 4 hours before bedtime.
Who is the Yellow Pack for?
Under constant stress and having difficulty falling asleep, or worse, getting insomnia? Need something to alleviate those mood swings during menopause? The Yellow Pack may just be for you.
Some days may be characterised by migraine, sore eyes, and a dry mouth. You may also experience mood swings before your period, hormonal acne, chest discomfort, lower abdomen tightness, or bloating after eating due to indigestion, and perhaps diarrhoea. The Yellow Pack works hard to soothe these symptoms, helping your body get back on its feet again.
The best time for drinking The White Pack
One week after menstruation to one week before menstruation. People who are prone to bloating can drink after a meal.
